Spring Fashion Trends 2014

Hi everybody!
I know that this post was supposed to be uploaded sooner than this and I do apologise if I have kept you waiting. To be completely honest, I have not touched my laptop in exactly one week ( not including a work laptop), and for me, that is an extreme amount of time. The usual excuse stands at having over piling work, very long hours and still trying to get a good night's sleep. I was considering to delete this post even though I have completed it last week as it is a long overdue blog post. However, I made a promise to upload it therefore I am doing it today and I hope you enjoy it and it will help some of you.

I hope you are all doing well and I hope you are very excited because spring is here. As we just started the spring season, I thought it would be nice to blog about spring trends. During fashion week of 2014, we saw many designers  not only bring out their own creativity but set trends for spring/summer 2014. Seeing the designers' clothings on the runway was exciting but the fun came looking at the attendees dressed in trendy street-style spring 2014 fashion. However, you can forget about the high end designer prices if you want to, as I have managed to get amazing, trendy spring fashion from stores like Topshop, Primark, H&M and New Look.

Easter Sunday Sweet Treats and Outfits

Hi everybody!
Happy Easter Weekend !!!!!

It is that time of the year again when moms goes out to buy chocolate eggs and the Easter bunny makes an appearance. I love Eater Sunday because for me, it brings me back to when I was a kid, feeling so much joy with the entire family and just having a laugh. Now that I am all grown up, Easter marks officially, the beginning of spring. In conjuction with the occasion, I thought it would be nice to bring out some easy Easter themed treats and snacks to enjoy during the long weekend.

Carrot Cake
Starting really nice and easy with some good old traditional carrot cake. I am not exactly the biggest fan of carrot cakes and I do try to stay away from it as much as possible. However, to some or most people, carrot cake is lovely and delicious. This recipe I have chosen to share today is a traditional carrot cake but with a slight twist as I think it makes for a better snack or dessert for this occasion.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 cup canola oil
  • 2 cups finely grated carrots
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup, well drained crushed pineapples
  • 1 cup flaked coconuts
  • 1 cup chopped nuts
  • 6 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 6 tbsp butter, softened
  • 3 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • additional chopped nuts
Method:
  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, cinnamon, baking soda and salt. Add the eggs, oil, carrots and vanilla. Beat until combined. Stir in pineapple, coconut and nuts.
  2. Pur into a 13x9inch greased baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 50-60 minutes or until a cocktail stick inserted to the middle comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack.
  3. For frosting, beat cream cheese and butter in a small bowl until fluffy. Add the confectioners' sugar and vanilla, beat until smooth. Frost the cake to your liking and top with additional nuts.

Salted Caramel Easter Popcorn
This is another easy recipe that you can do really quickly and with very little fuss. This is a really cute snack, perfect for everyone especially kids. This is putting a twist on the ordinary Saturday movie night munch, making it slightly prettier, tastier and more interesting.

Ingredients:
  • 6 cups of plain popcorn
  • 2 cups coarsely chopped salted pretzels
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/3 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows
  • 1 1/2 cups easter M&Ms
  • 1 drop red food colouring
Method:
  1. In a large bowl, combine popcorn and pretzels. Set aside. In a medium saucepan, bring sugar, salt and water to a boil over medium heat. Boil undisturbed until mixture is amber in colour for about 8-12 mins. Remove pan from heat and slowly pour in heavy cream. Be careful as the mixture will bubble up. Stir until smooth and add marshmallows, vanilla extract and a drop of red food colouring. Stir until marshmallows are melted and mixture is smooth.
  2. Pour caramel mixture over popcorn and pretzels and gently stir until popcorn is week coated. Stir in M&Ms. Transfer mixture to a large baking sheet and sprinkle with sea salt. Let cool completely.

Lemon Cookie Coconut Truffles
This is a very spring, Easter themed treat. Its a lot lighter than the ordinary chocolate dessert. It doesn't only taste amazingly delicious but it looks really pretty as well. This one is perfect to serve if you are having a get together or small party.

Ingredients:
  • 8 ounce cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp coconut extract
  • 3/4 cup sweetened coconut flakes
  • zest of 1 lemon
  • 3 cups finely ground lemon sandwich cookies
  • melted white almond bark
Method:
  1. Beat the cream cheese, powdered sugar and coconut extract in a large bowl until smooth and fluffy. Stir in lemon zest, flaked coconut and ground cookies until well mixed.
  2. Roll into 1-1 1/2 inch balls and place on a baking sheet. Refrigerate for about 1 hour.
  3. Dip balls into melted almond bark and let the excess drip off. Place on a wax paper lined baking sheet and put in the fridge until the coating hardens. Keep in the refrigerator but let it come to room temperature right before eating.

There are to things in life that makes me happy. Food and clothes. Im only kidding!

Coachella 2014 (Weekend 1) Celebrity Spring Fashion

Hi everybody!
This is quite an unplanned blog post as I just thought of writing it about 20 minutes ago.
I like many others have spent the past few days looking at Coachella pictures and spotted many celebrities rocking the spring 2014 trends. I actually have already completed a different blog post on spring 2014 trends that I will be uploading very, very soon so do look out for that! In the meantime, I thought it would be nice to scoop out some photos of celebrities in amazing spring-style outfits to share with all of you.

If you are not familiar with Coachella, it is a music and arts festival, originally called the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. It goes on every year for two weekends and three days and this year the first weekend was from the 11-13 April and the next weekend will be on the 18-20 April in California, USA. Coachella is one of the largest and most successful music festival held in the US. With that said, it hosts about 225,000 people each weekend including major stars and celebrities. Performances are incredible as well and it includes artists and bands such as Bastille, Bombay Bicycle Club, Lorde, Ellie Goulding, Rudimental, Lana Del Ray, Pharell Williams, Calvin Harris and many more incredible performers.

As the first weekend of Coachella just wrapped up, lets take a look at some of the celebrity OOTDs that have been spotted. This is where stars come out in their best and most trendy "festival fashion".

The fashion that has been seen in Coachella 2014 is very casual daily outfits. Some celebrities went a little different like Kendall Jenner. Lea Michellle looked pretty in a little baby pink outfit. The riding boots are amazing and the stars definitely rocked them. Other than that is lots of denim and lots of cropped pieces. This is definitely a change from seeing these celebrites like how we usually do; in designer gowns on the red carpet.

Comment below sharing your street style fashion favourites. Don't forget to look out for my coming post that will be uploaded some time at the end of this week on Spring Fashion Trends for 2014. And, like always check out my other social media sites as well! Xx
